Man. I don’t even know where to begin. When Kenneth contacted me telling his proposal plan to his girlfriend on a Christmas Eve night, the only thing that came in my mind is – I need to be there. Even it’s on a Christmas night. Kenneth and I met up soon after, and told me everything about her. Natalie is her name.
“She likes fairy lights.” He said. “How did you know?” “Pinterest” he replied. “She’s been following your work as well and talked about you, that’s why I decided to look for you.” I am flattered and feeling happy at the same time.
Little things that Natalie did not know is that he has been listening to her all the time and jotting little notes down, as well as following her Pinterest account, secretly. From there, he got her a wedding ring that she wanted. What a lucky girl! So we planned how the proposal should go, Kenneth has his ways to make sure she goes to the salon before I turned up as a surprise. It was so funny that Kenneth and I kept texting each other before that. Pretending that we have just met, whispering, giving eye contacts and hand signalling when Natalie weren’t looking. Do you remember, Kenneth? Natalie was probably feeling a little suspicious or weird when he kept on playing music from the player as well as laughing at his choice of music selection. The proposal happened in one of the room in Villa Samadhi. I showed up pretending to be just a photographer and took some couple photographs. And then got invited to join them for dinner. We sat together on a same table, enjoying the rest of the course meals until the dessert is served. Then I made an excuse to go to the washroom. That’s when Kenneth kneeled down to her with a ring on his hand.
It was raining heavily that night. I can’t really hear what he said to her but it was a beautiful moment, I witnessed a proposal right in front of my eyes. It was like watching a movie where romantic tunes flew into in my head. I teared while snapping away in a corner of the room, still couldn’t believe this is happening.

I wrote the above content long ago but did not publish it for the longest time. The proposal on Christmas happened in year 2014, and then we were in Hong Kong last year to have their engagement photos taken. The actual wedding alone took place in November 2015, not till Christmas. Again, it’s still like a movie. Like seeing how the two of them got together, knowing their silly “cigarettes” love story until they wedded right in front of my eyes. Love is just amazing. And it is my job to capture those. All the best to you two love birds, I know there will be more stories from the two of you again and it is always my pleasure to be part of it.
